Help us build a replica of Thoreau's cabin at The Walden Woods Project!

We are in the process of completing a replica of Thoreau’s cabin at The Walden Woods Project’s campus. Several replicas exist elsewhere, but most are built with modern framing and electric tools. Our goal was to build a replica informed by Thoreau's description of his house (aka cabin) in his book, Walden.

In the spirit of Thoreau, white pines were hand hewed into timbers. The joinery was mortised with chisels and hand saws. The frame is completed, and the windows are in the process of being built. Once public gatherings resume, we plan to host an event celebrating the completion of the cabin replica. Help us complete this exciting project!
